no signal

not had a signal for 4 days, checked server status and says upgrades being done in area hopefully be working by 17th april. i only topped up my phone last week so looks like i will loose a months use. havent got wifi calling on my phone, is there any other way i can send and recieve text messages. its not acceptable to be without a signal for that amount of time.

If you are on PAYG then no, as there is no Wifi Calling or SMS over Wifi available to you.

And sorry to say it is in the T&C's that service is not guaranteed and nor is uptime... You can always try and find a sympathetic agent at o2 (good luck) and ask for compensation..

Assume it is the network and not your phone or SIM?

Do a manual network search to see if O2 shows up in the list of networks.

Maybe swap your SIM with that of a family or friend and see what happens there
