topic Lost Phone Number in Discussions & Feedback

I was with virgin when they merged with O2, eventually I upgraded my phone to which I got sent out a new sim for my new phone. I transferred my original number over to the new sim which was delayed after 7 days, I rang up and the women on the phone thought I was requesting a new number and changed my number without my permission. So my original number was then being transferred to a now deactivated number meaning I was going to lose my original number that I had for the last 7 years. I got on another call and a very helpful guy said that he was going to try to get it recovered. 6 months down the line my original number is completely gone and I’ve had to update all my business information, let my existing and new clients know my new number. It’s caused a lot of stress and at this point I don’t even need my original number but I rang up to try to get compensated but was told £20 is the maximum I can receive in credit.
I just think that it is some sort of joke to have lost my original number and I had to buy new leaflets, new business cards and so on to receive £20 for 6 months of not having the correct number.

anyone else had the same issue?

Not personally, but screwing up numbers is more common than you would think.

If I was in your position @Cxllum22, I would consider making a formal complaint to O2 :-

How to Complain | Help | O2

https://www.o2.co.uk/how-to-complain

Customer+Complaints+code+250924+V0.2.comp.pdf

https://www.o2.co.uk/documents/456036/3782743/Customer+Complaints+code+250924+V0.2.comp.pdf

That will enable you to quantify your costs and to request compensation.

Please keep us informed of developments. 👍

The number was never "yours" @Cxllum22

No amount of complaining is going to get you more compensation than you have been lucky enough to be offered already.

All phone numbers belong to the original issuing network.and are loaned out to users. It's a common misconception, but users have no rights to a number and it can be withdrawn at anytime and without reason.

It also appears that you are using the number in connection with a business, so to comply with O2's T&C's, you should also have a business account........
