Won’t allow me to select use plastic sim

I am trying to upgrade me phone to the 15 pro max. To my knowledge I have found that the 15 pro max is both compatible with esim and plastic sim. So why is it when I’m given the option and I select use plastic sim, the proceed to checkpoint the option for the SIM card says something like, you can’t use plastic sim?

@Jb15 Probably a mistake in the way O2 offers options on that phone. You need to speak to customer service.
Call 202 from your mobile or 0344 809 0202, or 0800 032 1402
When it comes to the reason you are calling, stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.
Say 'Upgrade', 'Lost/Stolen', or 'Fraud' if the suggestion above doesn't get you through.
Best time to call is 8 am.

If it is an upgrade you could ignore installing the esim and use your old SIM for now.

If it needs changing later on, call into an O2 shop with photo ID
