Just thinking about returning a Y6 within the 14 days. This article suggests there might still be potential issues down the road.

I think you'd be right not to be filled with optimism. My guess is that this situation won't be settled until just before the US 2020 election, so that Trump can look like a hero to the idiots who support him. That's just my personal opinion, though, so you can take it for what you will.

And is it fair to say that companies will have bought a load of Huawei phones and still want to sell them and will "reassure" you by telling you anything on the basis that if Android rescinds support in the future and customers start to lose apps then they can always upgrade their phone (and then they make even more money)?

@Whiteadder There are probably many different scenarios, and there will be many differing opinions on the subject. You'll have to decide for yourself. I don't think it's anyone's place here to tell you how to proceed.

You need also to consider the value of your phone when you come to sell or recycle. It will be worth peanuts.

to be fair the y6 is a low end budget phone which sim free is £100 - £120 so very little resale value..

My mum was persuaded to go for the Y6 but I prefered the experia L3. (I prefer the L2 even from the L3 because of the large screen size). The Y6 seems decent enough for the price, my only fault is the notch at the top: the text is too small for my eyes and I can see how to make it larger?

Only setting I could find was high contrast text or something, but the text in the notch is now easier to read thanks

This doesn't change the size of the text in the notch. There appears to be only one setting for the notch text. But increasing the contrast helps.
