Does anyone here use Twitter from their mobile? Can you confirm whether or not o2 charge for sending SMS updates? Also, did you have any problems registering your phone. I sent my verification code to the number given don't know if it's activated as I've had no reply. Although the number is a +44 they say it's an international one and am just wondering if I need to ask o2 to allow me to send to these numbers.

Just tried text update - and it looked like it was charging me the standard text rate (hard to tell because i get free txts).

As I say - if you have a web phone, you can do it for free and check the updates of others at the same time.

Cheers. I get free texts with my tariff but wasn't sure if they classed the number as international which is what it says on the Twitter site, even though it's a +44 prefix. I've also just ordered an upgrade and decided to try out the Samsung Pixon...but have just found out, after hours of searching the net, that there are no Twitter apps for it so it may have to go back. I currently use Fring which I quite like.

Well I've changed my tariff slightly so now got the web bolt on as I intend to use the net more. I found lots of Twitter clients for iPhone and S60 but Samsung has its own OS and haven't been able to find client for it yet, hence being stuck with texts or net if I stick with the Pixon. Always been a Nokia user and currently have the N95 using Fring, which is good. If I can't find anything for the Pixon I'm going to have to look at another phone...but there's nothing else o2 do that I really want. Although I don't 'need' a client it's just a easier and neater way of doing what I want.

If it wasn't for the cost and poor camera (which I use lots) then I might be tempted by the iPhone.

DaveC,

Thanks for the info!! I should be getting the phone today or tomorrow so will have to try it out. I don't think there are many (if any) apps better than the ones for iPhone. They seem to be leading the way!

Apparently Samsung has some OS called TouchWiz which I've never heard of so know nothing about available apps for it! I really like the S60 OS so am seriously considering sending the Pixon back and looking at something else...though not sure what. Slim pickings on o2 at the mo!

Thanks for the heads up on TinyTwitter though.

They won't send any SMS to UK numbers any more due to the high termination costs levied by the UK networks.

Although the number is a +44 they say it's an international one and am just wondering if I need to ask o2 to allow me to send to these numbers.

They would say it's a international one as Twitter are based in San Francisco. The number you send your tweets to is a Manx Telecom number. For SMS charging purposes, Manx Telecom numbers are classed as domestic numbers.
