I downloaded 3G Watchdog that @gmarkj mentioned and it's been brilliant.

However, here's where it gets interesting. According to 3G Watchdog I've used just over 80% of my data. While I've had a text from O2 to tell me I've used 80% of my mobile wifi, I've had no text from O2 to tell me I've used 80% of my mobile data.

So, has the system failed again? And what would have happened if I hadn't downloaded 3G Watchdog, because my phone is showing data usage at a much lower level, much lower?

Interesting, yes!

I have also downloaded 3G Watchdog and find it pretty accurate.

The one thing I don't like about it is the orange banner across the middle of it which states

"Urgent Action Required. Please Click here"

There is no urgent action required. My data is only one third used and my bill is due in 3 days.

So, I won't be 'clicking here'

Yes @MI5. Or at least I always have in the past. One for 80% and another for 100%.

This is why I received a credit when I went over on my data last month. The text telling me I'd used 100% of my data hadn't been generated but should have been, and Business CS agreed.

Because I'm on a business account I won't be cut off and charged per mb for what I use but I've always received texts at 80% and 100% on mobile data and broadband. Until recently.

I think I'll hold off and keep an eye on 3G Watchdog as it's proving quite accurate. I've set it up to cut me off when I reach 95%.

And I'm keeping a sharp eye on my mobile broadband as well. My airtime bill is big enough as it is.

No @viridis the account was originally only for a phone. I added mobile broadband over a year later when I got my first Kindle Fire.
