Google Pixel 8 - no contact about free air pods

I bought a Google Pixel 8 on the 3rd June 2024, partly because there was an offer on the website and on the order at the time of a free pair of Air Buds. I didn't receive them with the order, which I'm told is standard, but was also given no instructions on how to claim them except to wait for a text or email and that it can take a long time after the order is processed, but I've heard nothing.

Was this a real offer or a false marketing tactic? If it was real, does anyone have any information on how I'm supposed to claim them?

The only time that offer was on website was March-April 2024.

The offer has now expired.

NB as well as checking with O2, I have also looked on the Google Pixel site.
