Using your phone abroad | International | O2

I am travelling to South Africa on 25th March and need to be see how i can use my phone whilst away. I have seen the 4.99 bolt on which i think is what i need? But not clear if i only get charged 4.99 a day if i use it. So e.g. if i only use it for 4 days i only get charged 4.99 x 4

Yes you can use O2 Travel in South Africa and you will only be charged for the days you use it.

Be aware though, sending one text will trigger O2 Travel.

All info in this guide, including what you have to do to get O2 Travel ie

If you've got a Pay Monthly sim, text O2TRAVELto 23336. If you've got a Pay As You Go sim, text TRAVELON to 21300.

It can take up to 24 hours for O2 Travel to be applied to your account.

Some advice.

Turn Voicemail off before you go

Use wifi wherever you can

Turn Mobile data OFF for the days you aren't using O2 Travel

Thanks that is really helpful . i have booked a call on Friday also with 02. What if someone calls/messages me whilst i am away Will they be charged eg if they send me a whatsapp/text?

No, anyone can call or message you no matter where you are at their normal rate or from included allowances.
