Help wanted on o2 open family discount

Hi I took out an upgrade last week. As I'm a coastguard I also had a blue light card discount which I received. I then noticed I had 2 codes on the o2 open site for friends and family. I tried to claim for my son but via the site I can't as you need to buy a phone same time. I tried ringing but was really confused as I was being asked my son's password etc then that I had to do it via the site which I can't.
I tried via text as one one thread I seen but got a replay that ENI Number was wrong I assume it was the code. Any thoughts peeps

Your second code can be used when you upgrade your son's contract.
It cannot be applied to a current contract and must be done within 28 days.

Thanks for the help but I only had the codes after I applied my blue light discount to my upgrade for me to pass to friends and family.
I have had my discount that went though fine

If you are looking to apply one to your sons phone, that can only be done if its a new contract and he is eligible for the discount @Graham221

If I could upload a screen shot it would explain it as it shows my discount applied then under 2 codes to me it reads as if I can apply it to his current account. Thanks for the help

No need for a screen shot. We understand, but still, it cannot be used until the contract is upgraded.
