Yes, I can understand the frustration. Might be worth you checking the reviews of your apps on Play to see if other users report issues with them....?

Hi

I got my first S2 end of September but about 4 days in, it started turning itself off at random, one night I left it fully charged and by half 6 the next morning I found it had gone off again and once i got it back on by removing the battery and putting it back in again, it was charged to 17%, so after having had it a week, I took it back to the shop and they gave me a new one.

Now, after a week of having the new one, it started doing the same thing again, turning off at random, but just now, I was having a conversation with my dad whilst using speakerphone and he said to me...'what's that beeping on the line'? so I went to wake the screen up to take it off speakerphone to see if the beeping would stop, but the screen wouldnt come on. It was as if it was off again, no buttons worked, no screen, nothing, but somehow, the connection was still on for me to be talking to him. I got him to hang up and tried to charge it, no go, had to take the battery out again for it to come back to life.

I tried updating firmware but it said there were no updates...any ideas before I go to the shop and do....well, I dont know what really, I gather I have 28days to get a new one and I got this 2nd one on the 5th, but Im not sure having a 3rd one would make any sense if they're all going to be faulty!

Some details:

Android Version: 4.0.3

Model GT-I9100P

*#1234# gets me this:

PDA: I9100PXXLPH

PHONE: I9100PXXLPC

CSC: 9100PO2ULP4

Build info: wed apr 11 12:22:51 kst 2012

Any advice / help much appreciated

Well no, they are not all faulty and its quite suprising you have 2 on the run that are,. What apps are you installing? Any power saving ones at all?
You are on the latest O2 firmware so no updates available as yet....

Thing is, it's totally random, how long do I leave it before I decide it's the app? I've only got about a week left before my 28 days from day of purchase is up.

This one did last longer than the last one, i'm trying to think which ones i added later on

Bit gutting considering I only have a few on there, as long as it's not a main one that i can get a substitute for or else the phone'd become a bit pointless for me cos i basically wanted a mini computer, rarely actually make calls! I have a bad feeling I added them all the same time cos I just wanted to replicate my first one...

Moan moan! Sorry, not aiming it at you, just frustrating! Right...get rid of something...

Hmm, lots of unhappy FB users but none of them say it kills the phone at random. (FB being my main use for the phone at the moment so can't help but be suspicious it'd be that one!)

Actually, I do always log out of facebook, would it still cause issues just for being on my phone even if it isn't in use?

I've gotten rid of the game first...I think that's what you call foolish optimism

We shall see...

Thanks for your help!

Is it overheating? That could cause some of the bugginess, wi-fi apps (that turn on wifi by location etc.) have in the past caused me problems after the 4.0.3 upgrade. There is a bug with Swype included in the 4.0.3 build that occassionaly causes it to eat up about 40% of the CPU and quickly drain the battery, someties stopping the phonefrom waking back up. It seems to come and go so you experience it a lot then not for a few weeks, there is a post about it on here somewhere with a link to the Swype forum discussing it. The majority of my problems were solved by a factory reset and a clean of the cache after updating to 4.0.2. Maybe thats worth a try in your case.

HTH
