wi-fi not turning on

was on O2 with a sony xperia 5 (3 years old), i picked a new 12 month sim only tariff today using the same sim card. however since the "update" of sim package, my wi-fi will not turn on. I've been in several locations tried to get it to turn on but just wont. have tried toggling the airplane mode.

on the setting-network and internet the wi-fi toggle will go to blue but it will remain "off", when i click into wi-fi it'll be greyed out and off, showing no available networks.

any advice welcome before i try a factory reset.

maybe coincidence its the day the tariff upgrades but seems strange as not had a problem before.

Nothing related to your sim would effect wifi on the phone.
