LG Nexus 5X dead

Nexus 5X completely dead. Died at the end of a phone call, so I turned it off. On restart just shows 'Google' on the screen for 5 seconds then goes blank again. Now doesn't even do that now. I've tried a soft reboot (got the reboot screen but no further) but that's done nothing. Can't get to that screen now either. Any ideas out there?

Try holding the power button whilst plugging phone into charger and continue to hold power for 30 seconds or until it boots up.

Thanks MI5 - just tried that but still no response. Tried with power and volume down buttons depressed as well and nothing. I think it's had it ...
