topic Need an MCK code. Probably a shot in the dark... in Android

Hey everyone. After multiple days of pain and suffering and being sent on a wild goose chase I finally think I know what the problem is.

To summarise: Moved to Malta, got a new sim, put in the new sim and was asked for an unlatching code or a NUC. Didn't know any of this at the time or that I was supposed to request one from O2 and exhausted the 3 attempts before the phone would become hard locked. Phone now asks for a PUK (seems to be common on Samsung devices, mine is an S8) which is obviously misleading and sent me around in circles getting PUKs from O2 and also GO, my new provider. I've spoken to O2 and Samsung about Master Code Keys after learning about them from research and it definitely seems like an obscure problem, because NO ONE seems to know about it except the people in provider communities like this one. I've read that O2 is especially useless and that there's essentially no hope in getting an MCK from them, and that I can only unlock my phone now through buying an MCK of visiting an independent phone repair shop.

I did read a post on here though that some Gurus have had some luck with helping customers with MCKs before and I'm just going to leave this post here to see if anyone can help me. That would be wonderful considering I'm not very happy about the prospect of having to pay to fix this issue that SURELY should be made more transparent. At least say how many attempts you have left at least, and the consequences!

If I had to guess they make it difficult on purpose, because it's in their best interest to keep your device locked to their network...

Thanks in advance.

I can ask our Guru team to reach out to Samsung to see if one is available for your device. I'll need a few details so I'll send you a message so we can talk further.

Hi I'm having the same problem, I contacted o2 to obtain MCK code they sent me to samsung as they said they cannot do that. I contacted Samsung and they told me only my network provider can do that. Can anyone tell me where and what I suppose to do to get MCK code?
