My personal favourite for Yahoo mail, ad free without any payment.

Also you only need to put in your yahoo email and password and the app downloads the settings for you.

https://mail.edison.tech/

Simple question I hope.

Just moved over to a Samsung J3 phone (from iPhone) and to access my BT Internet Mail I was told to download the Yahoo Mail App. Its all working OK but the top line of my inbox contains ever changing adverts. Now I use ADBlock on my Desktop to block these adverts.

Question how do I block them on my Samsung phone?

There is usually a paid for version of apps without ads if you're prepared to pay a small fee but it's an issue with many free apps. As blockers will work on everything if your handset is rooted but not otherwise.

Neither have intrusive apps.
You get one or two occasionally on gmail but nothing overly distracting.
I'd set your email up as an imap account and use:
INCOMING.
Incoming Mail Server: mail.btinternet.com
Port: 993 (this should be automatically populated if you tick the SSL Encryption)
SSL Encryption: Enabled (but not STARTTLS)
Username: your email address including the @btinternet or @btopenworld.com part
Password: your btinternet password
Root folder/path:
Folder separator: . (full stop)
Please don't enable "secure password authentication" (SPA). It's not needed when you use SSL encryption and won't work.

SMTP settings.
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.btinternet.com
Port: 465 (this may not be automatically populated on selection of SSL, so you'll need to check this)
SSL Encryption: Enabled (but not STARTTLS)
Authentication: PLAIN
Username: your email address including the @btinternet or @btopenworld.com part
Password: your btinternet password
