You can use any non O2 sim to unlock it, just order a free one online from EE for example.

I would really urge you to do it now, but your choice ultimately.

I have just been issued with an unlock code from O2 for an old Samsung S6 that I am giving to someone for Christmas. I want to change the number over at Christmas so can someone tell me if the code issued on 22 November will still work in 6-7 weeks time?

@jonsie is correct @jst123 however, I would suggest you do it now to ensure you have the correct code and that it works to avoid disappointment.

It will not effect your use of the phone at all.

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm giving my old Samsung S6 to my mother in law as a Christmas pressie and she doesn't want to open it till the actual day, hence the reason for my asking, and the reason I have to wait and she is still using her old phone with the SIM card she still wants to carry on using.
