Please don't use live chat for this.

http://www.o2.co.uk/contactus

I dropped my samsung s6 in water this morning, it was in water about 5 seconds before i got it out and put it in rice. Its still in rice but recently the blue light just appeared on and the screen is black.

I'm worried that if i have to replace it my insurance wont cover it. Basically I just cancelled my insurance yesterday however they said I have to pay up until the end of the month before its cancelled. So does this mean that my phone is still covered to be repaired/replaced?

Technically yes it is still covered until the cancellation date.
Pretty lucky for you, I'd say

You should be covered till the day it cancels. However check your policy to see if it covers water damage @Anonymous

Just an update: called insurance and they would cover it, they were coming this week to collect the phone. But by some miracle my phone started working perfectly again so I no longer needed them to collect it, thankfully!

Good news indeed. However, you do need to be aware that if there is still moisture in any of the internal components it could shorten the life of the phone by corrosion of those or other connections.

I'm not trying to worry you but felt it was something you need to take into consideration and may be worth speaking to the insurance company to log your concerns so they at least know about it should one those components fail.

If there are signs of water damage the warranty wouldn't cover it.

If it were me, unless you have a phone with an IP rating (water and dust proofing) I would still get them to change it.
As pointed out, taking a swim can cause an issue later on that is not immediately apparent.
