I might be wrong but I wouldn’t think O2 were in decline.

Yes they’ve had little 4G bandwidth to play with and yes they’ve withdrawn TuGO and some popular promotions.

They have had to think smarter to overcome the network issues but shifting their legacy 2G 1800mHz onto 4G for example is certainly one way..therefore allowing Carrier Aggregation.

Not sure about the apps and the promotions. These come and go. My reasons for rejoining O2 was the fact EE had pulled the plug on their early upgrade scheme without saying anything. And the fact that several ex works colleagues were raving about O2 as a network. All but one worked in central London and the other lived in Nottingham but worked in Leicester.

I see big things for O2 and if they hold their nerve they’ll reverse any decline in subscribers or customer satisfaction.

Though O2 wont be stocking it.

"The Nokia 8 is available for preorder now from Nokia.com, EE, Carphone Warehouse and Virgin, and will be available to buy in the UK on 13 September from Carphone Warehouse, EE, Virgin, Amazon, John Lewis and a range of high-street and online retailers".

Also confirmed by Chris_K here https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Other-Devices-Nokia-Blackberry/Nokia-8/m-p/1078402/highlight/true#M51245

That's a shame. I bet though they will be stocking the over-exubriently priced iPhone X though. Maybe they are scared that the Nokia is going to outsell their other Samsung, LG and Sony handsets. The OnePlus has a large amount of RAM too if not the highest available screen resolution.

And another quick point.

O2 have probably had the Nokia 8 waved under its nose along with the other networks but declined for several possible reasons.

Nokia were an absolute tip top brand at one time but where have they been since the days of their last stupendous handset the N8?

O2 may have had reservations about the handset for a whole load of reasons such as reliability, repair infrastructure, (The Nokia I knew based in Godmanchester was extinct the time I tried to check), other handsets already very close in spec etc in their current line-up, a competitor getting a brilliant and exclusive deal ref iPhone and O2 back in the day, having reservations about a good supply (perfectly ok for iPhone X but unacceptable for this type of handset) and possible pessimistic projections for increasing connections.

Soetimes a procurement department can mess up completely and end up with a load of stock which does nothing but gather dust in a warehouse. O2 in a previous life under BT Cellnet actually did that once with an Ericsson handset about 20 years ago called the TH688 a combined Cellular/ DECT landline handset . The concept was brilliant for the time but it didn’t work so brilliantly, after an initial spike the demand fell through the floor and BT Cellnet were left with THOUSANDS doing nothing. They were that specific to their intended role they couldn’t do anything else. And guess what happened to them? Gathered dust...

Modern day O2 aren’t so keen to pull a similar stunt again so they’re no doubt very cautious about procurement.

They do a Nokia 5 on O2 and the phone I want is out of stock. Don't really want to go through the process of repeating my information to an O2 shop. Then there's the sometimes screwed up process of Number retention which they seem unable to do where I live.

Anyway had a look at a few other network shops and my gut feeling was just to pay the final handset cost off and square of my remaining bill tonight. Although I rather not part with money until I know when I'm likely to be able to get the new stock.

1st world problems I know.
