Is it a new Z5?

Updates are sequential and it will update until it's on the latest fw, nothing to do with os issues.

What is updating?
If it's apps, they will always update in the background and you can set it to update on wifi only within the play store settings.

It's restoring apps from Google play that are linked to your account.
To stop it, go in Google play and then my apps and click stop.

Your phone will do about 4 firmware updates too, up to you if you install them

It would be a good idea to just leave it on charge and with wifi connected until it completes all updates.

My son has a Z5 and apart from the fact it keeps switching off all by itself it is constantly updating. I think Sony are putting out a lot of updates to solve a number os issues. bear with it as they will solve a number of issues that you may not even be aware you have.......
