Could be that Youtube needs updating through the Play Store or the 5x needs a system update. Clearing the cache and data and logging back into apps is a good quick fix as well.

Nexus 5X issue

I bought up a new Nexus 5X two weeks ago from O2. Generally happy, but every couple of days YouTube won't play videos - it comes up with "tap to retry" but this makes no difference.

The only way I've found to fix it is to restart my phone, but obviously I don't want to keep having to do this. I had a Nexus 5 before this and never had a similar issue.

Is there a known issue/fix?

Next time it happens see if turning data off/on fixes it or try flicking on/off airplane mode.

Hi @Jim26 No ideea about a fix I'm sorry to say but you have a couple of options. If within the 14 days cooling off period you can send it back. If the phone is faulty, you have 28 days to exchange.

Maybe someone who has a Nexus may be able to advise further...or you could even give Nexus support a call https://support.google.com/nexus/?hl=en-GB#topic=3415518

Thanks for all the suggestions. YouTube and my system were already updated. I tried clearing the cache and removing the YouTube updates but that hasn't made a difference unfortunately. Nor has flicking airplane mode on and off.

All a bit weird. I'll try Nexus support when they're open again.

I don't really want to go through the hassle of returning my phone, or doing a hard reset, but I don't want this glitch either!
