Sony Z2 Sim not working

could anyone tell me if I am doing anything wrong. I have a Z2 refurbished but it came with no sim holder. I have purchased the holder and the instructions I found are confusing, they say to put the sim face down in the tray and to insert into the phone with the contacts facing the back of the phone. I did this and the phone restarted but still says no sim card inserted.

Have you inserted the sim correctly? Is it the correct sized sim for that phone? Have you done a sim swap?

we have a couple of Sony experts on here @MI5& @viridis who will be more help

yeah, micro sim, diagram on holder shows which way it is supposed to go, have tried with contacts facing back and front of phones and tried with 2 sims

The sim and tray will only go in one way (without excessive force).

yep, followed the video, card in correct, phone automatic restarted saying sim card inserted, but still says no sim card after rebooting

Is the sim from a different phone or is it a new sim? If new, have you done a sim swap or activated it?

How to activate it, when the phone won't even register the sim is in the phone

Good point. As has been said it's probably a faulty phone, and you should be contacting the seller, but as you've already said they haven't been very helpful, you may be the owner of a paperweight.

Has this sim worked previously or is it a new one?
Do you have another phone to try it in?

it's a new sim, put it into another phone, o2 have activated it, but still says no sim card in the first phone.

It has to be either a faulty phone or the sim cards have expired. I would be having a look on Checkmend.

yeah, it's a faulty phone, will be taking it back next week, even though it's refurbished, they can't sell it as a working phone if it don't work

If you bought it from Brighthouse was it a new or refurbished phone @Anonymous?

Not that it makes any difference as either way it should be working....

Take it back for a full refund or an exchange.
