Z3 screens come up at 50 quid ish online so 250 is a bit excessive,
If you're willing to void what's left of your warranty, then visit a repair shop, you will get a cheaper price but will not only lose warranty but also your guaranteed IP68 waterproof rating.
Have you contacted Sony for a price or O2?
I know from the Sony forums, Z5 screen is £120 to fix direct with Sony so Z3 should be near that price.

Hi there everyone!

Recently my Sony xperia z3 suffered a big fall, resulting in smashed screen.

Everything works like the power button, sound etc. I can see notifications on my phone but touch wont respond, can you help me?

I recently tried repairing it but the upfront cost was about £250 which was a lot for a cracked screen.

Thanks

This is a customer forum. You could call customer services and see how much it would cost to upgrade early. Are you on refresh?

Also, you could try some of your local repair shops.

If it's still under warranty you need an approved repair to maintain warranty so shop around.
If out of warranty try your local market as they usually have a phone repair stall.

Hi @Anonymous welcome to the forums!

Can you give us a bit more information on your handset. Is it still under warranty and did the phone come from O2 on contract?

Sorry to hear about your screen 😞

Some of the options you could consider include:

upgrading to a new handset

using your current SIM in an old hanset or buy a cheap one to put it into

get it repaired through an authorised agent such as O2 or Sony (retains your warranty)

get it repaired through an independent retailer (may be cheaper, voids your warranty)

Insurance: if you didn't get it through O2 perhaps your bank, credit card or house insurance may include cover for your phone?

If you pop into a store or speak to customer services, they'd be able to advise you on your upgrade options.

FYI: if you get a USB-microUSB adapter, you'll be able to connect a computer mouse to your Z3 through the charging port. If the display still works, you'll be able to use the mouse to access the device. This can be useful if you need to get any information such a photos/contacts off the phone.

Hope this helps.

C
