It's a known Google issue that can affect any handset.
There are many theories but basically it's the file that saves the passwords that gets corrupt.
The only solution with half a chance of success is a factory reset (back up first) but unfortunately it's no guarantee.
If you just live with it for a while it usually starts working again by itself.

I've had my S5 for nearly a year now but it has suddenly stopped remembering passwords for wifi.

It has affected all of the wifi routers that I reguarly use and even after 'forgetting' the connection and re-establishing the phone fails to automatically reconnect and I have to enter the password again.

I'm on Android 5.0 - model SM-G900F

Thanks

Hi @IndieKid I am sure someone will provide a more technical solution than this ...but a search of the android forums suggested removing the battery and sim and reinserting them ..fixed this wifi connection problem for a number of people. Worth a try..

My Note 4 has a similar issue. It remembers most passwords but as I use many different wifi locations during the course of a normal day, there are certain places that I have to reenter the password every time.

Have you tried both suggestions from the members? Did you remove the battery and sim and saw if that worked? Alternatively, did you do the factory reset? I found this tuturioal that might help you for that

Let us know how you get on..
