No they mean lollipop they said Samsung have fixed the bug and released the update and told me to push my service provider for a release date

Usually it's down to the DRM not being up to date on the software player side.

This is odd - I've just tried iPlayer on a Note 3 & Note 4, both on the most up to date software available - to me this suggests the software version is not the problem, but could instead be an individual compatibility issue, perhaps other software installed in the background causing a compatibility issue. If you have a 'rooted' device this can also interfere with app such as iPlayer, STV Player, Netflix etc

Hence why I suggested it was maybe the iPlayer app as it's working fine on my Note 4 too.

It plays if program is downloaded but it will not stream live TV or catchup
what is the latest software for note 4 ?
When I got to download software I get the message all the latest updates have been installed

I have also cleared cache and data uninstalled and reinstalled iplayer and media player still will not stream TV or programs

and that's the reason why I asked if you had O2 firmware on your phone.....
You don't, it's generic UK Samsung ROM so you need to ask Samsung when they will roll out an update for you.

Strange phone is on O2 contract and locked to o2 network and told updates come from the O2 update server so asumed phone was supplied with the O2 version of Android

I've no idea but you certainly ain't got o2 firmware on it, so your updates have nothing to do with o2.

Just for the record, iPlayer stopped working on the Amazon Kindle Fire due to some update until the fix which happened today. So it definitely system specific than the app per se.

Hmmm...not sure...but it is built upon an Android SDK, so it will have elements of it. So I can't be sure which build of Fire OS represents which version for sure. V4 was definitely based on Kitkat, so maybe the update was just a point update on that.

If I find out I'll let you know.
