topic Software update. Storage space. in Android

My Samsung Galaxy S4 keeps popping up with a Software update, but when I click to download it says the software update (1106.97 MB) could not be downloaded because there is not enough space. Now, I have checked internal memory and ext SD card and both have at least 1.2 GB free. I have even moved and deleted apps and files to make more space and it still refuses to download! Yes... I have tried switching it off and on again. And removing the battery and SD card and putting back in again. Any other ideas?
Thanks 🙂

Personally I would back everything up, factory reset, install the update and then restore from backup.

It's the partitioned space for updates that is full which is strange because it should always purge after an update.
I would download the update with Kies and then back up and factory reset.
