Yes it is but deal with Samsung, O2 will probably say it's water damaged

I have a Galaxy s4 gt-i9515. Just recently when I make or receive a call I get a "crackling/buzzing" sound through the earpeice. This has only started to happen recently.

At a loss as to why this is happening. Any ideas?

Try it with headphones and if it's OK the earpiece speaker is broken.

Ok thanks for the quick reply. Only had the phone about 3 months, if the earpiece speaker is broken would you know if it covered under the warranty.

Have received a call through the headphones and there is no cracking or buzzing so it seems it might be that the earpiece speaker is broken.
Water damage?? The phone has never been near water!
Would it be best to go in shop or call o2?

Neither. Deal directly with Samsung as the others have advised. O2's repairers have a less than stellar reputation for trying to wriggle out of repairs.

Advice to deal with Samsung is given in good faith. Search the box at the top for Anovo. Makes no difference if your phone has been near water or not....
