Well here we are, almost a year after KitKat released, and it finally looks like O2 "might" be OTA to its "valued" customers. Well...thank you...for all your hard work! Not!

I have spent 15 years with O2. Having checked the coverage map of my area, they barely cover it with 2G. I tried the "chat guru" and they said I had to speak to their network people on 202 - yes, the same number as retentions. After 45 minutes on the phone call, it was finally answered and after a brief conversation discussing exactly the same issue, I was given a PAC code. What a shame.

Lets not pretend that the delay is due to testing and IT geeks ensuring it all works - Samsung don't spend billions on R&D for a small country's mobile network to have to "test" the software they have re-engineered from the Android base code. Rather, this is operators such as O2 trying to plug the latest phones pre-shipped with KitKat or Lollipop and the delay in upgrading of older models is a strategy to enable this to happen. Why all the lies, smoke and mirrors? Just be honest with your customers - they are not all idiots!

Anyway, EE has good 3G coverage over most of Somerset and elsewhere so I'm jumping ship. I hope their customer service is better than the so-called guru's who seem to be no more than standard customer service with access to an O2 database of questions and little or no inside or technical knowledge.

Sorry for the rant but I don't like being patronised.

Our latest information is that there are currently no plans to release a KitKat update for the Note II, but that's not to say it won't happen. If or when we become aware of any new information around the Note II receiving this update, i'll be sure to let the community know.

Hi Paul. To confirm, this is not specifically around O2 customers - Samsung themselves have not yet released or confirmed any plans to get KitKat on the Note II, certainly within the UK at least.

I can confirm within the UK, and on O2, JellyBean is the most current update for the Note II. If or once this changes i'll be sure to let everyone know, as I know KitKat is an update many are eager to receive.
