If it is not "registered"on the network go to start, settings, more networks, automatically find network and search. When o2 comes up click on it to register your device to the network.

Hi

Sorry to hear of the issues.

Obviously toggling wifi on and off shouldn't affect the signal.

I would go through these tips http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/Self-help-guide-Is-the-network-down-for-me-or-everyone/m-p/593752#M59833 and try a sum swap by visiting an O2 store where they will do that for you which moves your number and tariff to a new SIM card. This can take up to approximately 24 hours to settle.

If no joy then If the phone is under 14 days old then request a new replacement from O2.

http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=Companion,question=ref(User):str(Mobile),CASE=12876

If over 14 days still ask but if they say no we can only send it away then I'd use Samsungs Uk Support site for them to have a look at it.

http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/

If you do get connection then Also try switching 3G off to push the phone to 2G which may stabilise your call quality but will slow down internet speeds.

Can you try your sim card in another phone as a process of elimination ?

S3's do suffer from faulty/lose antennas.
If it's brand new take it back and swap it, asap.
