Most likely cause is that you are still on idata from your old phone.
Call CS and ask for data to be changed to standard data.
Note it won't update until Midnight tonight on your account, so you'll need to be on WiFi for the rest of today for data services.

Just yesterday i decided to upgrade my phone from an iPhone 5 to the HTC one M8. It appears that my 3G isnt working on the HTC. When upgrading the sales women pointed out that the HTC uses the nano sim the same as the iPhone 5 so instead of issuing me with a new sim she just told me to use my existing. Would this have an effect on whether i should be getting 3G? My old iPhone was not 4G ready where as this HTC is and i didnt know whether that would have an impact.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sean

Hi @Anonymous and Welcome to the Forum.

You will need to speak to Cs on 202 to ask them to make sure your off a idata settings in your account which is for iPhones.

Also try cleaning your SIM card and sending ACTIVE to 2020 , save the settings and re boot.

The apn settings in your phone should be the same as the ones in this link http://www.geeksquad.co.uk/articles/chapter/595-04-how-to-set-apn-settings-for-the-02-mobile-network

Make sure you have mobile data turned on and no airplane mode is turned on either.

It's worth checking your Service Status by inputting your full postcode here http://status.o2.co.uk

Let us know how you get on.

Self help link http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Android-Devices-Samsung-HTC-Sony/Connecting-Android-Phone-to-Data-Services/m-p/544202#U544202

Thanks for the reply.

I phoned Cs to discuss this with them. I seemed to have had a technology fart. I hadnt realised that 'H' signal was actually better than 3G, and this is what i seem to be getting now wherever i used to get 3G with my old iPhone.

The Cs dude said that i will probably get 3G whenever i go to somewhere with less of a signal, but that still hasnt occurred, it seems to be either 'H', 'G' or 'E'.

Does that sound about right?

Thanks for your help.

Sean
