The problem I had previously with not getting my emails now on my phone s4 I contacted bt broadband on computer and put through to some security firm that works with them he remotely connects to mine and says I have been hacked into and that they have access to my emails etc and he can fix the email problem but would have to install and block this access from London but it will cost me £79 pounds to not allow hackers back in does this sound right

Hopefully you haven't fallen for a scam (one of which was recently going around in an email).
I suggest you cease all contact with this person, disconnect your computer from the internet and run a competent virus and malware scan immediately.
If you are not confident of doing this yourself, seek an expert computer repair shop's help.

My father in law had the email and clicked the link to see where it would go. It was a very plausible BT log in page (he didn't log in). Anyone logging in on this page has given away their username and password which then gets changed immediately and so locks you out of your own BT account.
What follows next is a world of pain and expense to sort out and it should certainly be reported to BT as they will no doubt wish to investigate (this is hurting many people) and they will also reinstate your account and reset your security details.
That just leaves the user to clean their infected PC.

One way to avoid this issue in future is to not click on links in emails unless you are absolutely sure of their origin.

When I get an email from a company that I want to go further with, I go to my Internet and type in their website address and not click on links. So for BT I would start at www.bt.com and then navigate from there. I don't use the website addresses in the emails unless I am certain.

Appreciate this is after the horse has bolted but it may help in the future.

It may be an idea to download something like Kaspersky rescue Disk (http://support.kaspersky.co.uk/viruses/rescuedisk/) and burn to a CD (or create bootable USB) then boot from that and scan your PC to check for anything left behind. In case of suspected infection never boot the suspect PC from it's own drive and always boot the rescue disk from cold state (powered down).
