Yes, add the number to your blocked call list. Long press on the number in phone log and select option from pop up menu.

the number that i want to block has only contacted me through viber, can i still block them through that or do i need them in my call log?

You can manually add the number to your contacts and then add it to block list, not sure if you can block in viber app too as I don't use it.

You cannot block a caller on Viber
