Sony Xperia U won't connect to mobile network

I purchased a Sony Xperia U and have put my pay monthly sim card into it which has a 500mb bolt on on my account. However, it won't connect to mobile internet, only through wifi. My account says that the bolt on is active but whenever I turn on my mobile network, no connection can be found.

Have you made a call or text yet?

Try texting ACTIVE to 2020.

Hi, I tried that and recieved the configuration message, but still no connection. Thanks anyway.

Check in Settings >More >Networks >Access point names (apn's) and make sure you have an active O2 connection. (you might need to click on it to activate and make sure you press save or done afterwards.
Also ensure that the option to "use Mobile data traffic" is ticked.
