If your having downtime due to mast issues then once they have been resolved you could ask O2 for a goodwill gesture. They don't have to offer anything so be prepared if they say no.

You can make your request by phone call via 202 contract / 4445 payg

I've got a problem which might be coverage but may be not. I work in Victoria London SW1 - I can make calls and get internet coverage but I can't get texts to transmit. I went into the O2 shop today and they changed my SIM card but this didn't solve the problem. This has beeen going on for some weeks. I'm having to use up my call allowance to speak to people when I could send texts - I see this as really poor service and I'm stuck in a two year contract I find if I walk 100 yards in one direction a text will transmit - so is this coverage? If so I couldn't even get a text to tramsnit in the O2 shop.

If the phone has enough signal to make a call, it should also have enough signal to send an sms (mms is different). Have you tried inputting your message centre settings again?

Seems strange that texts will work 100 yards down the road so I guess it must be something localised that is interfering but just to be sure check your message centre number is OK.

Message service centre settings
+447802000332 for Pay Monthly, or
+447802092035 for Pay & Go
Remember to check that the message centre number starts with +44 and not 0044

As I can send texts from other locations and make calls from locations where I can't send texts - I have to assume that it is something localised

If it is localised I guess you're saying that the problem is not caused by my message centre number

I don't know what my message centre number is or how to check it - but if it is localised I guess I don't need to know.

I know people who use the O2 network and don't have a problem texting from the locations where I do have now a problem (it hasn't always been this way) but these people maybe use 4G phones - not sure if that makes a difference for texting. I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i on a monthly contract.

Try use a simple phone like Samsung 1080i. In o2 shop £10. If it makes any change. Or did you have any accident with Ace, like fall?
