All you needed to do was disable mobile data on the phone and switch it back on should you wish to use the internet. You would have at least had the option whilst the phone's ability to connect via wifi would have been unaffected.

every day but I don't go on to internet and I don't download things - not necessary for me - but I'm being charged for wap.o2.co.uk...........also I have free wifi from my home which is where I use the phone, so can't understand why it wouldn't tap into that if it was going on internet. The thing is though I honestly didn't go on internet, so why and how am I being charged for all these daily downloads?

Samsung Galaxy Ace and yes, the settings are checked. I got on to o2 yesterday and they have blocked internet access on my phone...........so that will stop charges for something I'm not using............

the thing is I might have wanted to go on to internet at some stage, so would have like that capability........

am i making sense?

Dont forget that any apps that download via the internet, be it your emails, a game advert, latest levels on angry birds friends, will all need to connect to the internet to get the data, just because you don't use the internet browser doesn't mean the internet doesn't get used.

If your wifi connection is a bit temperamental, AND mobile data was on, then your phone was probably choosing mobile data over the wifi connection.
