Sony Xperia Z - very poor camera function

I'm quite sure I'm not alone here but my recent purchased Xperia Z's camera is terrible!

More often than not it will not focus with no apparent reason for not doing this. There was a though process (from the Sony forums) that the recently released software upgrade would resolve this. Unfortunately it has not.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Silly question but wanna make sure? Have your checked your camera settings? Because there is a auto focus Setting, try switching it off

Yup - I have checked all the settings and cleared the cache with the same results.

I rang O2 regarding the problem last week and the technican on the other end of the line didn't have a clue. The Xperia Z has only two physical buttons. The power switch and the volume control. He was trying to boot it into Safe Mode and telling me to switch the phone on, when the O2 screen appeared to press the "Home" key...no matter what which was I put it he couldn't grasp the the phone didn't display a home key until it was fully booted up!

I just gave up...
