I've asked numerous times and keep receiving the email EXACTLY as below:

Firstly, its the wrong instructions - "Service Provider Lock" states "Not Personalised".

Second, it isn't a code, its a series of X's......

LG Unlocking procedure for the LMG710EM handset LG G7

1.Turn on the mobile handset Enter PIN code if required .

2.From the home screen press the ?Call? button or enter the dialing menu and then enter the following text: 2945#*710# an unlock menu will automatically appear.

3.Select ?Service Provider Lock?

4.Enter the unlock code SIM_Unlock* and press ?Ok? the handset will be reset automatically.

5.Switch off the handset insert the SIM card for the new network and then switch the handset back on.

the phone is unlocked and ready for use.

When did you get the phone as o2 have been selling them as unlocked for a couple of years.
Have you tried a non o2 sim in the phone?

August 2018; trying an alternate SIM and it reports locked.

Have you followed the instructions in the guide below?

If yes, then you would need to either call customer services or try visiting your local store (if possible).

The are 3 ways to unlock most LG phones:
First option:

1. Insert a simcard from a different network (for example if the device comes from Orange network insert a T-Mobile simcard).
2. Your LG G7 ThinQ should ask for an unlock code
- for Network PIN type the NCK code
- for Service provider PIN input the SPCK code

Second option (device doesn't ask for an unlock code with an unaccepted SIM)

1. Start the device with an accepted simcard (example LG G7 ThinQ was bought in Orange you need to insert an Orange card)
2. Go to the dial screen and press “2945#*model number#” (the same way you enter a phone number)
Example: the device is a P999 you need to enter “2945#*999#” or for KU990 you need to enter “2945#*990#” etc…

Third option (accepted simcard)

1. Go to dial screen and press 2945#*71001# or 2945#*20001# as if making a call
2. when a hidden window appears enter the unlock code

You will need to fill in the form again, on o2's website or call / live chat with Customer Services as @gmarkj has alluded to.

Also note that unlock codes come from LG

Yes; four times. And each time received the same pointless email with incorrect instructions and no code.

Even then, with no code its pointless??

Apologies for the necro post, but I have a work around for this.

O2 refuse to accept that the LG G7 Thinq was ever sold by their network...despite it being listed on my bill and having the receipts. I believe the issue is actually that the G7 was sold through Carphone Warehouse at the time, since O2 have stopped working with them now this is the only thing I can think of - how a network could "forget" a handset is beyond me.

I have spoken to customer services, sent through sim unlock requests via the website and via the My02 app - both recieve the response "this is not an O2 handset".

I have now successfully unlocked the phone via a sim unlock site, sim-unlock.net. Costs about £5 and took 10mins - highly annoying that I had to pay an extra fiver for O2's incompetence, but a reasonable fee from the supplier:

From the dialling screen: dial 2945#*710#

A menu will open, select the top option 'service provider lock'

Enter the "NCK" code (you will be given 4 different codes for different purposes, make sure you enter the NCK one)

The phone will switch off, turn back on and now fully unlocked
