International calls

We have noticed that since we have upgraded to a Nokia 630 that our phone will not work properly when abroad. We can make and receive calls to/from UK from Spain etc. but we cannot make calls in Spain to a spanish number. We have restaurants listed on the sim that we have always used to book a table but they now will not work - says "This number not yet allocated". International code and correct number are still there.

Are you prefixed with 00 or + ?

Try adding the the numbers again. I had a problem last year with a couple of my Spanish contact numbers....when I deleted them and added them again they worked....

We did try that and also entered them manually but no luck.

Try using the + sign instead of 00

If you're in Spain trying to call a Spanish number, you're probably roaming on a Spanish network. If that's so, you wouldn't need to enter the country code, only the local number. Try that and see if it works.

Now back in UK, but we tried at least 6 different restaurants.

Thanks for suggestion. We will not know if it works until we go back to Spain in a 6 weeks.

We did try that when we were there but no joy. The Nokia phone we had previously had no problems and the contacts were transferred along with all our other numbers.

@Anonymous , when you say, we upgraded, did you keep the old number or did you cancel the old number and got a new one?

Same number. Had house in Spain for 12 years. No problems with using phone until new phone in Oct 2014. Same company, same number, same mobile company, Nokia. Had 4 Nokia phones, all worked until this one.
