Unlock (an alleged already unlocked) Orange Rio

Hi, I have a puzzle. Am using 02 International sim in my Nokia and all is well. However, now have an 02 International sim for my wife to use in her Orange Rio (ZTE GX991).

Have trawled the net to find a way to 'unlock' an already unlocked phone (have been using this abroad on a totally different network to Orange) and any sim I put in says 'invalid sim'. No options come up to enter an unlock code or anything else. Can anyone help?

Does it work in the UK with an Orange SIM in it? To clarify, have you been using the Rio abroad OK but now won't work in the UK? If so, it may be barred in the UK due to been reported lost or stolen?

Yes, have been using abroad okay using Vodaphone (Ghana) and also one of the other Ghana networks. Bought this as used while in Ghana as hers was stolen. Don't have an Orange sim to try here. Maybe your hypothesis about being blocked in UK is correct?!
