MMS SETTINGS HTC Windows Phone 8X O2

Hello,

Don't mean to be a pain and you probably get loads of these questions - My MMS settings for my new HTC 8 are not working - I've tried looking through forums for the answer but no such luck. Is there some sort of dummy guide for setting up MMS on it because I can't see pictures that are sent to me via messaging. It bothers me a lot aswell because it cost me a fortune!

As I understand it there are issues with windows phones and MMS settings. You might get lucky by installing the "Network set up" app from the app store (if available for HTC) but otherwise it seems very hit and miss unfortunately.

Can't seem to find that app anywhere on the apps store or HTC apps. Taking it to the O2 store on Saturday to see if they can do anything with it - if not the phone will be going back to O2. Spent the last 10 years with a old Nokia and finally dug up the courage to throw it away and the new phone is not ANY better. Oh well! Mistakes are made.

Sorry I can't help more but it seems common on windows phones. MMS is a bit "old tech" these days. As long as all your contacts have smartphones you can send pics by email (or whatsapp) which are not limited in size as MMS messages are.....

So its not actually out of the norm to not have MMS these days? I'm so old style when it comes to phones i have no clue! I thought MMS was amazing haha!

I'm sure it will come soon for windows phones. Even got it on my old Nokia running symbian OS.

Thats awsome - Thanks for all the info though and i am sure i will post my findings from the O2 store on saturday and tell you how i got on. Might be useful for other members of the forum too. Sure you get MMS questions 24/7. haha.

I'm having the same issues with my 8X.

I've had settings sent to me, I've had various O2 guys work on it and I've had my MMS turned off and turned back on again.

This afternoon though, one O2 bloke managed to get it so that I could receive MMS but still couldn't send. I've carried on playing around and now I can send but so far can't receive!!

It's pretty frustrating. I now have an appointment in store with an O2 guru tomorrow morning to see if he can sort it out. If he does, I'll post up

Try the following :-

APN: wap.o2.co.uk

Username: o2wap

Password: password

WAP gateway port (URL): 82.132.254.1

WAP gateway port: 8080

MMSC (URL): http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk/

MMSC port: 8002

Max MMS size: blank

IP Type: IPv4

Seems to be working for me. I'll probably be cancelling my Guru appointment now

Also switch on your mobile data connection. If it is switched off then it won't send mms.

Thanks, this also sorted things for me not being able to send/receive photos on a text. Set it in 'settings/mobile network' set data connection to 'on' then add the details Chubnut provided to 'edit mms apn'. Surely O2 should provide these settings as standard the first time you logon to the network?

They do provide a system to get the settings for most phones by texting O2ACTIVE to 2020.

Do you have to have data switched on to receive as well?

I'm on Pay&Go & am charged £1 as soon as I switch the data option on (even if I don't use any data). The charge is valid for data use up until midnight, so I'll wait until morning before switching data on. (I'm sure the charge used to be for 24 hours from switching on).

Why not switch to a tariff with some data included, it's much cheaper than a pound a day?
