Another Belfast shambles

For two weeks I have had minimal or zero coverage in the area. Were. I work . Two days ago I was told this. Would be fixed . As I figured. This was more B.S. . Appalling and totally unacceptable. I will be looking to terminate.

Have you checked for known faults with your postcode here:

If they do know they will be working to fix it and it's not going to allow you to cancel a contract.

There doesn't seem to be a general fault affecting the whole of Belfast.

O2 is hopeless in Belfast generally and patchy in many areas of N Ireland. Frequently I find my phone showing almost full bars but can't make a call. Often impossible to use data in and around the City centre, even in the o2 shop in the Victoria Centre there is no signal.

I think the network is severely overloaded.

These aren't 'faults' (ie something someone can go out and fix) - they are congestion issues. The only thing that would fix that is O2 putting more cell sites in the area, or less people using the cell site.

You hit the nail on the head, appalling congestion in Belfast and some other parts of NI. I experienced the same for several hours in Edinburgh one Saturday before Christmas.

I have the same issue in my locality. Base Station(s) running beyond capacity.

Call o2 who say they have no plans to do anything about it. What is the point of giving 5gb of data if you can't use it.

Agree with that surely if there is too many people trying to connect they should look at putting in more cell sites

The Old o2 went when Telefonica took over.

Hi Damien1.

Signal here getting progressively worse from an already poor start. When you try to talk to o2 you just end up banging your head against a brick wall.

If it wasn't for the fact that Vodafone customer service was so dreadful I would tell o2 to shove their contract where the sub doesn't shine.

The large discount and freebies added on are of no use if you can't use it.

Only a thought, and I've no idea about the coverage situation in your local area, but...

There are other networks beyond Vodafone & O2. Just because you don't want to be on VF and you're having problems with O2, does not eliminate all your options... assuming you can't wait for O2 to resolve the issues in your area.

I would suggest PAYG SIM from another network (I can think of 2 in particular, without naming names) and maybe try those out before committing.

Just a thought.

Sadly here it is ONLY Vodafone and o2 both on poor 2g signals. EE, T Mobile and Three have no indoor signal at all and patchy outdoor.

So I am bazookered lol

Can I suggest if you are having network issues that you download and use the TU GO application that has been developed by O2.

This application receives calls and text messages to your device via Wi-Fi, therefore you will not miss any further calls.

Yes fully aware of TuGo and also fully aware of its flaws. Sadly TuGo caused more problems than it solved. It is notoriously unreliable. Texts would get lost. Calls wouldn't come through. Couldn't make outbound calls from home over wifi. If sending texts where signal was patchy TuGo wouldn't send either.

So you options are somewhat limited.
