Denied a 3rd contract

Hello i'm Kenny, i've a 24mth phone contract and a 24mth sim contract which was taken out in dec 2013.Just applied for an iphone contract and was denied for a credit check reason. I've changed banks last month and when i applied for the phone online a required £1.01 payment for the credit check was req'd. But at the time i had not had monies put into it as it was a brand new account. Sounds daft but if there was not £1.01 in the account is that why i was declined a 3rd contract. Please help as it is a present for someone special to me. Thankyou...

Hi

It could be because there wasn't enough activity on your new bank account, maybe that's why you got rejected?

And not having any money in your account when applying for contract, don't know if that is relevant or not.

You could try calling CS and ask for someone who can explain why you got rejected but most likely you won't get a proper explanation.

I'm pretty sure it's because there is not enough activity on your new bank account.

Hi,

The debit of that small amount is actioned so that the Network know that you have a working valid Uk Bank Account ,they can then take bill payments from.

Maybe deposit some funds into it and try again.

Customer Services would not tell you why you were declined and would advise you to contact a credit file reference agency.

You could check your credit file report via one of the companies such as experian. They offer a trial period to check your file but dont forget to cancel it in good time if you dont ant to start paying a monthly fee.

Noddle offer a free credit file service. You get an updated report once a month. Just don't pay for any of the premium features and whatever you do don't pay for a score from a credit reference agency. It is pretty much a random number!

You could have been declined because you've only just taken out another contract last month and they may want to see how well you pay that before giving you another one. Or it could be the age of your bank account as the others have said

I'm glad I'm not the only one who believes that.

O2 will not ask an agency for a number when someone applies for credit!

O2 use Equifax for credit vetting consumer connections so it might be worth having a look at the information they hold about you.
