Your billing date is set up normally a couple of days after opening the account. On your first bill you pay for that first couple of days until your first bill is produced and one month line rental in advance. Payment is always 14 days after the bill is produced ansd will be the same date each month.

I'm pretty confused about this.

I was speaking to the online chat service, and they were trying to explain my first bill (i'm new to O2).

They stated I'd have to pay the first month's line rental in advance. When I asked when the 2nd bill would arrive, they said it would come "2 days after the start date" - I have no idea what that means, does that mean every bill is 1 month in advance?

When I looked in the FAQ, it said 'That's because we charge for line rental a month in advance. So your first bill will show 2 charges; the cost of your tariff before we printed off your first bill - and the cost of your next month's tariff, in advance.'

I really don't understand all this - could someone please explain how the first couple of bills work please?

Thanks
