How long are text messages stored for when a phone is turned off?

Hi there,

I will be going to Malawi for 10 days and am planning to not take my phone.

I was just wondering how long text messages are stored for on the network or phone as my phone will be turned off for the duration of my trip...

If anyone knows, I'd be really grateful

Make sure in message settings you set "message validity" to maximum and that should hold them for 30 days until you can get them delivered.

Good to know they can be stored for 30 days!

Any idea where I can find this setting on an iphone?

Went into settings > messages - but there doesn't seem to be an option...

No idea on an iPhone, sorry (thought you had a proper phone ;))

One of the iPhone boys will be along shortly to advise though, I'm sure.....

haha thanks! (I know I've succumbed to the social pressures of having an iphone but my nokia was just crap!)

I spoke to one of the O2 gurus and they've advised me it should stay on the phone for 30 days for pay monthly customer and 17 days for pay and go customers,
if anyone was wondering!
