O2 terms and conditions queston

hi all,

i relised the prices went up a few months ago and aparantley they are due to go up again in feb, are o2 breaching there contract terms because in there terms it says they can only do it once in a 12 month period as in the terms it states:

5.2 We may increase or decrease our Charges from time to time. If we increase our Charges (apart from for Additional Services), we’ll let you know at least 30 days before the Charges are due to go up and you’ll have the rights explained in paragraphs 5.3 and 5.4. We won’t increase your Monthly Subscription Charges more than once in any 12 month period

The last increase was for Vat and I'm sure it was in December 2011, and was compulsory, nothing they could have done about that.

I don't remember any other price increase in the last five years.

Actually an interesting concept.

Some companies I remember decided to delay the vat increase indicating that its not a compulsory thing is it? (Or were they just paying the 2.5% out of the profits?)

I very rarely deal with VAT as I'm mostly a cash business so I'm not very clued up:(

They still have to pay HMRC whether they charge it or not.

Price increases are always hard to stomach.... gas, electric, phone's but what really got me angry is when I realised that Space Raiders were now being sold for 40p per pack and Freddo bars at 65p... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!!!

Sorry Luke that nobody has replied to your question, hope this reminder helps:

Sent to me, 15/12/2012 (not quite two months ago):

Your mobile tariff is changing. Here's why

We've always done everything possible to give you great value. And keep your bills down.

To date, we've held off putting our tariff prices up for as long as possible. Even when our competitors have.

But now, because of inflation, we need to change the price of your tariff.

From 28 February 2013 your mobile line rental will increase by £1.15 a month to £37.15 a month. That's a rise of 3.2%, the same as the current rate of inflation.

What you pay for making calls, sending texts and using data is not affected by this increase.

You don't need to do anything. You'll see the increase on the first bill you get after 28 February 2013.

The prices didn't actually go up back then, this was just the legally required notice.

That price change will be reflected in your February bill.

If it makes you feel any better, I wasn't happy so gave O2 notice I was leaving.

They had to let me go without penalty, just waiting for my credit back

If that was you reply, what about the 3.2% RPI published in December 2012 that was emailed to all O2 customers? This was the last increase and it comes into effect on 28th February 2013.

Remember, Luke says he thought it went up a few months ago. It isn't that hard to see that this is one and the same is it?

Maybe Luke could tell us about what he thought happened two months ago, think you'll find I'm right my friend 😉

I don't see your problem here, they posted they were aware of the increase in Feb 2013, but thought there was an earlier one, which I said there hadn't been.

Sounds simple enough to me.

Not a problem Perksie, you only mentioned the one due to VAT back in 2011, never mentioned the one that everyone was notified of in December 2012.

How hard is it to see that Luke was inadvertently, talking about one and the same? Or do you know differently?

I sorry but I do not consider Luke's question was answered, unless you genuinely didn't know about the December announcement.

O2's single biggest improvement would be with it's customers service. It took ages to finally accept my contract and let me go without penalty yet it's clear O2 has learnt nothing because it's failing to resolve this for many if not all who have been provided with the same contract I had.

does anybody actually listen anymore?
