Lost receipt for mobile phone

I previously had an O2 phone contract the contract was up so I took out a sim only deal. I have insurance not with o2 and the mobile is broken, I can't find the original receipt as I need to show that as proof of ownership. Are 02 able to provide me with a copy of the original receipt otherwise I am unable to make a claim

If you bought it from an O2 shop, if you return to that shop they maybe able to reprint you a receipt off the IMEI of the phone but it will depend on how long ago you purchased it. It would be worth going in though as they can talk you through your options
