My o2 contract through mobiles.co.uk is up & I'm taking out a new o2 contract through mobile phone direct, can I port my number to my new o2 contract?

Yes you can.

Once you get the new contract just call cust service to migrate your number

No problem mate.
Don't be tempted to try a sim swap yourself though. You must call to get it done correctly.
