Hi everyone,

Previously, if you wanted to unlock your device, you needed to fill in our online form and its often been a much discussed subject here on the community.

We’re really happy to let you know that you can now do this via MyO2 (on the app, mobile and desktop versions)! Below is a screenshot to help you see how it will look in the app:

A period of 7 days should be expected before an unlock request will be completed.

For business customers however, there is still a form that you will need to fill in:

Has anyone used the new feature yet? How has it worked for you? Let us know below!

Just a warning too,
If you recently used another sim in the phone, make sure myo2 is showing the correct IMEI for the device you want unlocking or the automated process will fail

I used the desktop "MyO2" to get the unlock code for the wifes S6 (we travel to ireland often and have local sims). No issue.

As my last two handsets came from CPW they were already unlocked.

I did notice O2 didnt charge for this service, is this new? As the last time i unlocked a phone (Tmobile i think) they charged £25.

O2 have never charged to unlock for contract customers.  Pay and go however costs £15 and that hasn't changed.
