web text service

The excellent O2 PAYG web texting service was one of telecom's best kept secrets - until it was withdrawn because no one knew about it.  There were a few false dawns about what might replace it but it seemed that nothing did. Is this still the situation now or has some little known service come along to replace it?  If a competing network provided it and O2 didn't I would switch.

I don't think any network provides the service now but there are many free messaging apps out there now such as Whatsapp etc.

I agree with Jonsie - there are numerous free apps available to send texts and mms these days that networks would probably not continue or reintroduce any web text services.
