started just over 24 hrs ago, went to use phone silly little icon on bar signal top left hand side. So checked on line, said that there was a mast in my postcode area down...ok... So went to local o2 shop, had it looked at said no nothing to do with Mast, its faulty, tried sims its faulty..cam home, chatted to guro online, said its not faulty its the mast...............now perplexed....been using it 13 months trouble free

Ok so next morning, still no signal cant txt or rings or incoming .......so go into o2 shop again, ask if anyone else has a problem locally as my hubby, father in law, son  and friends in the same postcode, have no problems just me....so they delve deeper, had my phone from new, pay as you go, in credit and just topped up on the 17th, why oh why the clanger wait for it, it has a bar on it?????hmm now Im getting stressed, headache in a busy shop, so the chap helping, rings up somewhere explains,  then ask a few questions via me, then get the clear to say they will lift the bar, as there is no reason or code I guess reading on other posts, its not reported stolen or lost,  I have had it from new in a sealed box, so why oh why i am having this to deal with I do not know. Just had a chat with another Guro online, I want answers....told it could take up to 24 hrs, I guess for someone to flip a switch,I want to know why my phone is barred, been with o2 for donkeys years is it human error wrong digit put in the system...told to ring 08448471420 they will lift the bar, but I dont want to ring this number costs too much with tiscali.but I was told today in the shop it was lifted wait and turn my phone on and off, ok its not 24 hrs yet but I need my phone yesterday, my sons school if they need to get me in an emergency they cant now ....this is really annoying now....why me.............

Rang following morning, got through straight away, spoke to a very nice lady, who could only apologize I ended up crying and getting frustrated, shes looking into it and  ringing me back by Tuesday..its still barred after being promised Thursday it would take 24 hrs so I can use it a again, I feel victimized for no reason, I have also emailed the Ceo of o2, had a reply, they are also looking into this, I don't know why this is taking so long to sort out, I have been a o2 customer for over ten years, never defaulted on paying, my phone has never been lost or stolen, frustrated beyond belief...the hassle this has caused is astonishing, no so bad over the weekend, whilst my son is off school but tomorrow he is back to school and away from wednesday on a school trip for 3 days, I hope its sorted by then, it will be a wk tuesday that I have not been able to use it, the man in the shop said there was no reason why its barred as there was no code, there wont be its human error, disgusting way to treat me I am furious now...

Hi there @Anonymous

I've just seen your post and noticed the number you were given to phone. I will not comment on the reasons why your phone has been barred but all I can say is if you don't want to dial the number call 202

Monday - Friday 8.30am - 6pm and they will transfer the call. This department is the only one that can remove the bar, if it has been placed in error, It's their decision. They will also explain to you why the bars has been placed on the account. Hope this helps slight_smile

202 from a barred phone.....?

If you can use another O2 phone, fair enough but 202 is for contract CS not PAYG so won't work from a PAYG phone either. You'd need to call 4445 but as you have someone helping you already, best to wait for that to pan out before confusing the situation any further.......

   Force of habit D'oh!

Still, the important message here is the OP needs to speak to the department that placed the bars. I know the advisors mean well by asking for the bars to be removed  but not even managers can remove them without that departments authorization.

Thanks for your advice, I am waiting to find out why this has happened to me, but I know there is no reason, its human error, the  tec man in o2 spoke to someone, via o2 who had the authority to lift the bar last wk, they said there was no reason why its barred, and that there normally is a code, as a maker to let you know why its barred, and who put the bar in place, there is no code, he told me it would take 24 hrs for it to be taken off, but I am still waiting, I feel like leaving o2 after this, shocking that this can happen to me, my phone is never out of my hands, now its been switched off since friday, as all its doing is draining the battery leaving it on searching for a signal...heads will roll..I owe no money, as I only pay £5 a month top up via voucher, and my phone has not been stolen or reported lost......so I want answers now.........
