Click on your wifi connection in the settings menu then tap menu >advanced settings and make sure wifi is set to "always on".

One feature to bear in mind on the S5 is the enhanced download speed mode which combines the use of wifi and mobile data to increase the speed of downloads.
If you are streaming media or downloading larger files this could be the reason for it so make sure you also turn off "download booster" from the pull down menu.

Maybe it's because I have 152Mbit broadband at home but I can't see any benefit in a "feature" which uses your mobile data by design when you have a wifi signal

It's not quite gonna have the same increase in speed for you Dave as for those on a slower connection, for sure wink

Yes, have you checked if download booster is on too?
