iPhone internal memory?

Anonymous

Hi,

So I received my iPhone 6 plus on Friday - backed it up from my iCloud back up of my previous iPhone and I keep getting a message saying "storage almost full" .. Now I've gone to settings-general-usage and it says I've only used 11.8GB of memory, but that I have 0 bytes memory available?! .. How is this possible when it is a 16GB phone?

I'm really wishing I had opted for a bigger memory phone now? 😞 but I've completely set up the new phone and sold my old one s I'm sort of stuck aren't i??

A 16gb iPhone gives around 13Gb user storage memory.

Perhaps think about using DropBox

And delete old apps and clear your iMessages and messages out, videos , move pictures to Dropbox, delete old calendar entries.

It would be so much simpler if apple allowed SD card slots 😞 but they won't because they fear of security issues etc.

it does sound like you need the 64GB version. On Refresh you can change your mind once within 14 days of getting the phone and change handset.

Basically, you've used all your memory, of the 16gb, some is used for os, some reserved for apps and extensions but the user accessible memory is between 11-14gb depending on brand of phone and os.
Eg my xperia z2 has 11.57gb usable memory.
Do as @Anonymous suggests and it should free some up (but only a little) and get a Dropbox account or similar

I also set up play lists on my iPhone and don't choose to hold every song I own.

Check in your camera app and turn off HDR quality option as this uses a fair bit of space too.

E mails and their attachments.

Oh Apple and your lack of SD storage!!!

The iPhone 6 Plus is like gold dust at the minute so you would get full value if you decided to sell it and put the money towards another.

As others have already suggested you can use dropbox although unfortunately there is no other resolution.

Whist 16gb is adequate for everyday usage it's very limited to what you can store. However you must have an awful lot of photos, videos and music to be on the device limit.

Try and sync the phone with itunes, iphones are notable for "Other" taking up memory, this usually occurs after a sync isn't completed properly or if the OS as been updated etc.

Ensure you don't have films, tv episodes ticked in itunes as they will eat up space quickly.
